One of our major ones we wanted to do was our fireplace. It scared us because we weren't sure what was underneath and we didn't want to start something that was going to cost us more than it should. It all started on Tuesday night.
Chris got to work and started tearing off the wood paneling. I sat back and worried about what he was starting and wondering how long our wall was going to look like crap....
He had it completely torn down in about an hour when we realized it was fully sheet rocked and it wasn't going to take much to do. He had an idea to see if maybe we could cut all the sheet rock out and have a shelf in the wall (thats why the hole is there) but when we looked the fireplace flue took up all the space.
So off to Lowe's we ran to get putty and try to find a way to build a mantle.
The pink mud was my favorite part! I told Chris we should have painted it that bubble gum pink color☺
I got the fun task of painting. I am not done quite yet. When we took the paneling down we noticed that the boards went onto the other walls. When I opened our grey paint to fix that corner, the paint was like glue. I haven't had a chance to go get new paint yet, but will soon. Our other wall (that looks white) is a very yucky pale yellow. I will be painting it to match the fireplace wall color soon too!
Our final touch was a mantle. That's all I ever wanted. Chris just wanted a place to hang the T.V.
Let me tell you this has been one of the cheapest remodels we have done. It has totally change our living room. We have so much space now and for once our whole setup isn't revolved around looking at the T.V.
We were completely finished by Friday afternoon. That's a record for a remodel project in our house (our downstairs remodel has been in progress for over a year now, but it will be finished soon too!!!)
Saturday was wonderful. We got to relax then headed over (all but Keisha, she was at a friends) to Mandy and Garrett's to watch the girls.
Autumn is feeding Taylor, Audrey is feeding Marissa
All playing together nicely
Of course cousin Jalen always wants to be climbed on
Keisha has joined Key Club and starts her volunteer work this Saturday morning at the Idaho Food Bank. She is a little worried because she has never been there but is excited to be doing it.
Audrey has softball assessments Saturday. She is trying to be on majors this year. She is definitely good enough, just needs some confidence.
We are trying to get Autumn into this program called Ride for Joy. It is a therapy program for people with disabilities. Autumn loves horses and after some research we found out the success rate with this program is wonderful. We are hoping that it can help her in ways we can't. There is a waiting list, but we are crossing our fingers it isn't too long.
Your new living room set up looks fantastic, I can't wait to see it in person! Thanks again so much for watching our girls. We really appreciate it and we are grateful for having such a great family who is willing to give up their Saturday night to hang out with 11month olds. :)
